Berliner Weisse is the newest beer on on tap at Brewery Becker.
You can enjoy this extinct style of beer known as the “Champagne of the North,” lagered for nearly 2 years. It is extremely pale, sour, and dry; It’s a double decoction raw ale, wild fermented with Sacchro, Bret, and Lacto.
There are many modern versions of this beer made, but they usually are boiled, kettle soured or use GMO yeast, lack the brettanomyces yeast, and are flavored; leaving little in common with the original style.
Ours is a 12 oz pour, 3.4% ABV. It can be ordered with a shot of Schuss (syrup), either Himbeere (raspberry) or Waldmeister (woodruff). Historically, it was also common to add a shot of caraway schnapp.
